Our advice before giving CBD to your pets

What is CBD?
First of all, CBD is one of the cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Another cannabinoid you're probably familiar with is THC, which has soaring and psychotropic properties. But depending on the variety, the cannabis plant possesses over a hundred different cannabinoids, some of which have very interesting properties. For our example, CBD or cannabidiol is a molecule which, unlike THC, has a multitude of virtues, including relaxing and de-stressing properties that are NOT psychotropic. CBD is also used to treat epilepsy, with incredible results in humans. A great deal of research has been carried out in recent years, and it's all very encouraging! That's why CBD is gaining in popularity all around us, because those three letters, C B D, mean good.
Why give your pets CBD?
Can I give my pets CBD?
It's perfectly possible to give CBD to your pets. Like us, they have an endocannabinoid system within their bodies, which activates CB1 and CB2 receptors when CBD is taken. It is therefore possible to takeCBD oil in the same way as humans.
Be careful with certain CBD products
Be careful, however, to select CBD products containing a very low dose of THC, i.e. less than 0.2%. As in humans, high doses of THC can cause very harmful effects in animals.
What illnesses in your pets can CBD help combat?
CBD against osteoarthritis in animals
Osteoarthritis affects not only humans, but also our pets. It's the cartilage in the joints of the body's bones that wears away, eventually disappearing little by little. The touching ends of the bones cause severe pain when the animal is in motion, and this can quickly become paralyzing and disabling for your cat or dog. There are a number of causes for this condition, including trauma to the joints, obesity, congenital anomalies or growth disorders. Areas particularly affected include the spine, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. Animals suffering from this disease get worse and worse, and if a solution is not found, they gradually lose their appetite as they find it increasingly difficult to move and feel very unwell. CBD helps relieve osteoarthritis in animals.
CBD against epilepsy and tremors in animals
From severe epileptic seizures to tremors, dogs and cats affected by these pathologies often have a very complicated life. Studies have recently shown that CBD has a very positive impact on reducing epileptic seizures and tremors. A clinical test was organized and the results were clear: 89% of dogs experienced a reduction in their seizures after ingesting CBD.
CBD reduces anxiety and stress in your pets
All animals, just like human beings, have different characters. Some are calm and relaxed, while others are subject to anxiety and stress. Many factors need to be taken into account, such as the animal's personality and background, the environment in which it lives, and frequent changes in life or routine. Available on our page dedicated to CBD for animals, as well as from veterinarians, CBD-based products for animals are assets that will enable your companions to be more serene on a daily basis. Their stress will diminish and anxiety will gradually disappear over time.
CBD's action on dog tumors
A dog with a 6 cm tumour was treated with CBD for 3 months and the tumour completely disappeared. 6 months later, the dog is doing very well and has not relapsed. CBD can even be a miracle cure in some cases. It's a real relief for this animal's family.
How can I give my pets CBD?
As with humans, you need to start slowly when administering CBD to your pets. The starting dose is 0.2mg of CBD per kilo of your pet's weight. If necessary, you can gradually increase the dose up to 1mg per kilo. In some studies, researchers have shown that animals show no side effects when the dose is increased up to 2mg CBD per kilo.
In any case, you'll need to watch and analyze your pet's reactions to realize the changes, so you don't overdose him for nothing. Even if you give your pet a little too much, there's absolutely no risk! On the other hand, it's always a shame to waste CBD :)
The easiest way to give your pet CBD is by administering CBD oil orally. It's also possible to put CBD oil in your dogs' and cats' food, but for an almost immediate effect, you can administer it orally and sublingually.
