Introduction to CBG
Things are moving fast in the world of CBD, hemp and cannabis. Today, the Cali Weed team would like to address an important point, since CBG is arriving on the scene at high speed, with products that are completely legal and already on the market in France. Like CBD, the CBG molecule has its advantages, and it's important to mention and differentiate them.
In this article, we'll outline the potential benefits and advantages of CBG for our bodies and our health.
What is CBG?
CBG or cannabigerol is the basic cannabinoid molecule.
To date, CBG has been little studied in terms of its effects on health, and research is still scarce.
On the other hand, this molecule has been known in the cannabis world for a very long time, being the first to form in hemp, even before THC or CBD.
In hemp, CBGA is formed first (in its acid form). It then multiplies to give rise to CBDA and THCA, the other so-called acid molecules of CBD and THC.
At the end of the hemp plant's flowering period, thanks to light and heat, what's known as decarboxylation takes place: the acidic forms of these molecules are transformed into CBG, CBD and THC, and their levels gradually increase.
How does CBG affect the body?
First of all, let's remember that our body contains our SEC (endocannabinoid system), which includes sensors that can be found in various places (brain, intestines, lungs, etc.). All these sensors enable us to act on different levels.
Unlike CBD, which activates CB2 sensors in our SEC, CBG activates CB1 sensors.
CB1 sensors activate our emotions and memory processing. CB2 sensors are essentially linked to the immune system.
There's a link between pain management and CBG! In fact, the Vanilloid 1 receptor plays an important role in pain information and the treatment of inflammation, and CBG directly activates this receptor.
We also note that following a study carried out on rats in 2016, the latter had a greater appetite thanks to CBG, now all that remains is to demonstrate this via new studies on humans.
The different properties of CBG
Some studies suggest that CBG is even the primary stem cell of cannabidiol and THC, since it is the first to form, as mentioned above.
CBG, like CBD, has no psychoactive effects, but it is a very interesting prospect in the medical field since it is said to have :
- Antibacterial
- Antimycotic
- Improves quality of sleep
- Reduces pain
- Slows proliferation of certain cancers, particularly prostate cancer
- Reduces risk of blood clotting
CBG-based products
Flowers and oils are currently the most important products to be marketed. It's a job that could be described as "antsy", since we have to work again on different varieties in order to find stable, productive, quality plants.
We therefore advise you to start with flowers. At Cali Weed we display the CBG and CBD levels for all our flowers, so you can select them to suit your needs.
