The best Sativa cannabis strains

Cannabis Sativa is renowned the world over for its stimulating, energizing and creativity-boosting effects. This large family is made up of dozens of varieties. So it's not always easy to find your way around. Here's our guide to finding the best Sativa cannabis strains.

To remember

  • A good variety is judged by the effects it produces, its terpene profile, its cannabinoid content and the prizes it has won.
  • Among the best-known Sativa varieties are Jack Herer, Super Silver Haze and Amnesia Haze.
  • The best variety of Sativa cannabis remains personal, but make sure you buy it from a trusted supplier.

What are the criteria for judging the best Sativa cannabis strains?

Not all Sativas are created equal! Determining the best Sativa cannabis strains is difficult, but several subjective criteria are often used to compare them.

The effects felt

Consumers who turn to Sativas are looking for an energizing sensation. This species is reputed to offer a tenfold increase in mental energy, a feeling of heightened creativity, a sense of euphoria and good mood, a boost in concentration and clarity of mind.

Note that a good sativa variety offers these effects in a balanced, fluid way, without unpleasant side effects (such as anxiety or paranoia).

Aromas and taste

Otherwise known as the terpene profile, this aspect is crucial in selecting a variety of choice. A good sativa has a rich, complex and pleasant aromatic profile, which contributes to its unique identity.

Cannabinoid content

This aspect influences the effects produced by the variety. Often, the so-called best strains have a high THC content (between 18 and 25%) and contain CBD to temper the euphoric effects of THC. Finally, a good THC / CBD ratio ensures a pleasant experience, even at high doses.

Reputation and awards

Has the strain won competitions such as the Cannabis Cup? What do consumers have to say about it on forums? Is it a well-known mythical strain? All this information speaks volumes about the quality of a strain. And yes, the best strains are often those that have proven their worth over time.

The essential Sativa varieties

There are dozens of varieties CBD flowers flower varieties, but here are 3 that can't be ignored (yes, it's good for your G culture to know them!):

1. Jack Herer

Jack Herer is an iconic strain named after the activist and writer of The Emperor Wears No Clothes. It was created in the 1990s in Holland and has since won numerous awards, including the Cannabis Cup more than a dozen times.

It's a Sativa-dominant hybrid variety with a complex yet balanced aromatic profile (pine, citrus, spice). Its effects are said to be energizing for the mind and relaxing for the body.

2. Super Silver Haze

The name Super Silver Haze says it all! Also born in Amsterdam in the 1990s, it's a cross between three renowned strains: Haze, Northern Light and Skunk. The result is unmistakable: a flower bursting with oil, rich in cannabinoids and powerful, even psychedelic, with over 21% THC.

Three times number 1 in a row at the Amsterdam High Times Cannabis Cup from 1997 to 1999, this is a unique strain. Its lemony yet powerful and sweet aromas, combined with the earthy taste of Skunk, are unique. But be warned, this is not a strain for beginners.

3. Amnesia Haze

Amnesia, a name we all know, cannabis enthusiasts or not! It's probably the most popular strain in the world. This Sativa-dominant hybrid contains a high THC content of between 22 and 24%. Although the origins of this strain remain rather vague, it is often thought of as a Californian CBD flower, with its potential West Coast origins blending Afghani, Thai and perhaps Jamaican varieties.

Amnesia is renowned for its powerful, euphoric and even psychedelic effects. After taking it, you feel energized, more motivated and joyful. Its aromas are also interesting and complex: sweet citrus with a touch of pepper and earthy notes.

This CBD flower is available on Cali Weed for as little as €1.90, so there's no excuse not to try it!

How to choose your Sativa cannabis?

We can't stress this enough, but choosing a supplier you can trust is essential! Origin, method of cultivation, you need to know everything. Choose flowers from a brand that offers 100% natural products, organic if possible, and makes its product analysis certificates available.

Then define the effects you're looking for. Does it bring mental clarity, a boost in creativity, renewed energy or a feeling of socialization? And find out about its aromas. How are they expressed? Are they powerful, gourmand, natural or atypical? Choose the one that most appeals to you.

Don't forget to check its cannabinoid profile. What is the CBD / THC ratio? High THC levels (>20%) can cause anxiety, especially in novice users. A more moderate THC level (between 12 and 18%) is better suited to everyday use and novice consumers. Also check for the presence of CBD (> 1%), which makes the effects milder and reduces the risk of paranoia.

And, for safe, gentle consumption, turn to CBD Sativa flowers like the ones we stock. They all contain less than 0.3% THC, in compliance with current legislation.
